The Spektrum SR3100 and SR3520

Both of these are great receivers however there are a few differences and things you need to be aware of when using the SR3100

The sr3100 uses the coaxial antenna, when properly installed with no tight bends, kinks, pinches, etc it will provide greater signal distance. But in most cases you will never get out of signal reach.
The standard and shorter antenna on the sr3520 provides plenty of signal range, and the smaller compact size helps it fit better in most cars. Space is getting tighter and tighter in newer cars, so small components work best, also keeps weight down ever so slightly.

In most cars you have a radio compartment that allows you to run the antenna wire through the same area as the servos, then around an up through the antenna tube on most Traxxas and Losi cars this means you might end up making some tight bends with the antenna wire which could introduce glitches in your system.

So here’s a mod that you can apply to help keep you antenna as kink proof as possible.

1. Get a small grommet at your local electronics store that will hold the antenna tube you plan to use.

2. Drill a hole in the lid of the radio compartment just large enough to install the grommet.

3. Install grommet.

4. Cut two pieces of fuel tubing put one on the antenna tube.

5. Install antenna in grommet, then put the other fuel tubing on the inside of the radio compartment.

6. Run you antenna wire into the antenna tube and install the radio.

*Hint : You can us shoe goo to make it a little more water proof.

Enjoy your car and Happy Thanksgiving!!
